We take pleasure in announcing the establishment of our new law firm, “Sueyoshi & Sato,” in Tokyo, Japan as of January 1, 2020. We have been serving clients from among Japan’s leading corporations and its emerging companies as well as governments and government-related entities across a broad range of complex litigation, transactional and corporate matters, with a special emphasis on intellectual property litigation and transactions. Our goal is to leverage this experience and our highly developed expertise to build a new law firm that always puts itself in its clients’ shoes so that they can quickly and accurately assess actual and potential risks. At the same time, we will always strive to give back to the community because we believe that social justice is an essential aspect of every lawyer’s practice.

We work to develop a deep understanding and appreciation of our clients’ business objectives and culture in addition to thorough research, review and investigation of the facts at issue. This enables us to translate complex issues into simple ideas and arguments that appeal to judges, distinguishing Sueyoshi & Sato from other law firms. Wataru Sueyoshi frequently assists governmental agencies with intellectual property-related issues and also served as a Visiting Professor at the University of Tokyo Graduate Schools for Law and Politics from 2013 to 2016. He has been recognized by leading publications including both Chambers Global 2020 and Chambers Asia-Pacific 2020, achieving a Band 1 ranking in the “Intellectual Property: Domestic in Japan” category.
